Acts 14:19-22… WOW.

Read this passage this morning, and had to stop.  Paul and Barnabas had preached the gospel and made some people really mad.  These people get a crowd together and drag Paul out of town and stone him.  They think he’s dead, and so they leave him.  I’m guessing this wasn’t the first time these people had stoned someone, so I’d bet they were pretty good at stoning someone to death.  But, when the disciples gathered around Paul, he gets up – dusts himself off, and gets back to work.  I can see him all bloodied and dirty as he walks to the next city, where he goes on to encourage the disciples to continue in the faith and "saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God."  That must have been a convicting message to hear that day… maybe it still is?…
